A little blog to showcase my artwork and share ideas and inspiration!

Technology project part 2!

We had to choose a category (geometric, flora and fauna or luxury) and explore this theme with a wallpaper/wall-covering brief. I chose luxury and began by looking at lace and lingerie.

I then began to explore the patterns found within lace in a less obvious way, forming patterns out of other shapes. I decided to layer drawings of semi-nude women cut out of paper and tracing-paper as they created a series of lines, waves and curves that both integrated their figures and a more abstract design.

I sewed them onto rolls of wallpaper and fabric to further push the idea of technology being used without making it appear too mechanical.

I kept to a simple monochrome colour scheme so as not to over-clutter the pieces and make them seem too busy!

Upcycle project

We had to find items of clothing that interested us from charity shops and unpick apart each and every seam. I was drawn to baby dresses because of the colours and soft textures (I am sure it had nothing to do with the fact that I am obsessed with and adore children).

We then had to put the panels back together to create a new garment. I made a children’s cape!

Pre-specialism post part 2!

This is some of the work I did from September-November. At this point I planned on specialising in illustration or graphics. Little did I know I was going to change direction completely and end up specialising in textiles!

The art foundation course I am on is amazingly diverse and we cover everything from life-drawing and basic design to 3D studies and graphic design. It’s been the most wonderful learning experience and my style has developed in a way I am really proud of.

I’m making this Tumblr to act as a platform for my work and a way in which I can find and share ideas with other art students! If you are an artist in any way shape or form please send me a message, I’d love to check out your blog!
